Ravindra Jadeja has often shown his catching brilliance on the field. A host of cricketers have touted the Indian all-rounder among the best fielders in the world and former India batsman Gautam Gambir is the recent one to join the list.
“I think, in world cricket, there is no better fielder than Jadeja, an overall fielder. Maybe he doesn’t field at slip and gully, but no one is better than him in throwing,” Gautam Gambhir said on the Cricket Connected Show on Star Sports.
“No one covers the outfield like him. Put him at point or cover, you can get him to field anywhere. No one has a safer pair of hands than him. Ravindra Jadeja, probably is the best fielder in world cricket,” he added.
During India’s tour of New Zealand earlier this year, Jadeja had pulled off a screamer when he flew to take a one-handed reverse cup to dismiss Neil Wagner in the 2nd Test at Hagley Oval. This is just one of the blinders Jadeja has taken in his career.
In the 2019 World Cup, Jadeja’s brilliant catch also helped India to end the 160-run partnership between Jason Roy and Jonny Bairstow. Jadeja was not even part of the Playing XI then.
Recently, former South African Jonty Rhodes, who is counted among the best fielders of all time, had also praised Jadeja for his reflexes.
“Jaddu (Jadeja) has taken some fantastic catches. The key is he is very committed. He is very good at anticipating the ball also,” Rhodes had told Suresh Raina during an Instagram Live chat last month.
