Another instance of brazen violation of lockdown guidelines by political leaders has come to light in Karnataka.
Congress MLA and former state minister PT Parameshwar Naik held his son’s wedding on Monday in the Bellary district and hundreds of guests thronged the wedding hall and no one wore masks or practices social distancing.
Even though coronavirus lockdown has been relaxed around the country, permission has not been given for weddings with large crowds.
Naik’s son’s wedding saw many ministers and politicians from Karnataka as guests.
State Health Minister B Sriramulu was once again caught on the backfoot as he attended the wedding without a mask. This is the third time he was seen violating lockdown guidelines in public.
Former Karnataka CM and Deputy CM Siddaramaiah and G Parameshwara also attended the wedding.
When asked about the violations, host MLA Parameshwar Naik said, “We had asked people not to attend and had invited only a few close members. But people came by themselves.”
“The Bellary police will book a case in the incident and the local tehsildar will lodge a complaint,” said Arsanahalli police inspector.
“We will file a case and MLA Naik will be named as accused and the case will be booked under the NDMA act,” he added.
