Senior Congress leader Ahmed Patel was questioned for over eight hours by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in connection with Sterling-Biotech bank fraud case on Saturday at his Delhi residence.
After the questioning, the Raja Sabha member targeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah and said “friends of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah” came to his house.
“Friends of Narendra Modi and Amit Shah came to my house. I replied to all questions that were asked. I feel sorry for these officials who are being used to divert attention at a time when China has taken our land. And, instead of getting our land back, they are going after Opposition leaders,” Ahmed Patel said.
ED recorded the statement of senior Congress leader Ahmed Patel under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act. Patel will be questioned again on Tuesday.
Ahmed Patel, who had earlier told the probe agency that it would not be advisable for him to appear for questioning given his health condition amid the spread of coronavirus in country, was asked about his relations with prime accused in the case, Nitin Sandesara and Chetan Chetan Sandesara, sources said.
Accusing Centre of targeting the Opposition leaders amid India-China standoff and Covid-19 crisis, Ahmed Patel further said, “today the entire country is battling with Covid. All models of health care have failed and now they are targeting Opposition leaders. All this is being done to hide and obfuscate their incompetence in tackling China and Covid. If I have done something wrong, they should act and law should take its own course.”

Chetan allegedly used to handover huge amounts of cash to Irfan Siddiqui.
Sunil alleged that Ahmed Patel’s residence was also used for meetings.
“Chetan Sandesara used to refer to Ahmed Patel’s residence (23, Mother Teresa Crescent Road) as headquarters. Chetan and Gagan Dhawan used to visit Ahmed Patel’s residence. They have gone to this address at least 25-30 times. The meetings were fixed by Chetan and Gagan Dhawan through…
