After four days of violence in the national capital’s North East district, a team of Delhi Police finally swung into action and collected crucial evidence from a building owned by suspended AAP Councillor Tahir Hussain. The political leader was named in the FIR filed in connection with the killing of Intelligence Bureau staffer Ankit Sharma. A team of Forensic personnel also visited the scene and collected evidence from the spot where Ankit was found dead.

Sources say that the team has recovered crucial evidence in connection with Sharma’s murder. The police have also seized petrol bombs, acid, stones and bricks which were allegedly used by rioters during the violence that jolted the national capital earlier this month. A preliminary investigation has established that petrol bombs and stones were hurled from the terrace of a 4-storey building owned by Tahir Hussain.

An admission report accessed from Guru Tegh Bahadur (GTB) Hospital in Delhi’s Shahdara revealed that Ankit Sharma was brought in the main casualty ward in an unconscious and unresponsive state after he was found near Chand Bagh at around midnight on February 25.

It is being reported that Tahir will be called in for questioning very soon in connection with Ankit’s murder. Hussain, however, has denied all the allegations and claims that he had reached out to the police twice on that day to save his life during the violence. Delhi Chief Minister and AAP’s national convener Arvind Kejriwal suspended Tahir from the party that returned to power in the national capital earlier this month. Leaders of the BJP have alleged that the suspended AAP leader conspired to incite violence and played an active role in spreading it.
