Legendary actor Amitabh Bachchan is an inspiration to many young actors in Bollywood. The 77-year-old actor continues to entertain us with new films every now and then and is quite active on social media as well. His latest film, Gulabo Sitabo, shows him in the role of a grumpy old man, who wants a tenant to evacuate his precious Fatima Mahal. The role of the tenant, Baankey, is played by Ayushmann Khurrana in the film.
While in the film Ayushmann and Big B’s characters are continuously at loggerheads, the Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan star looks up to the senior actor in real life.
Ayushmann, who has carved a niche for himself in Bollywood with his quirky films, shared a heartfelt note for his Gulabo Sitabo co-star on Instagram, written in Hindi.
He wrote, “Jab bhi humaare desh mein koi naujavaan abhinay ke shetr mein kadam rakhna chahta hai, toh uska dhyey hota hai Amitabh Bachchan. Meri aakhri film mein ek dialogue tha ki Bachchan bante nahi hain, Bachchan toh bas hote hain. Jab maine bachpan mein Chandigarh ke Neelam cinema mein Hum dekhi thi, aur bade se Bachchan ko bade parde par dekha, toh shareer mein aisi urja utpann hui jisne mujhe abhineta banne par majboor kardiya.
(Whenever a youngster wants to work in the field of acting, the goal is Amitabh Bachchan. My last film had a dialogue, “You can’t become Bachchan, Bachchan just is”. When I watched Hum in Neelam theatre in Chandigarh, and saw Big B on the big screen, an energy was generated within me that compelled me to become an actor).”
The actor added, “Mera pehela TV shoot Mukesh Mills mein hua tha aur ye vahi jagah thi jahan Jumma Chumma De De shoot hua tha. Us din mujhe ‘I have arrived’ vali feeling aa gayi thi. Agar tab yeh haal tha toh aaj aap soch saktey honge mein kis anubhooti se guzar raha hounga. Gulabo Sitabo mein mere saamne bataur sah kalakaar, yeh hasti khadi thi aur kirdaaron ki pravrti kuch aisi thi ki humein ek doosre ko bohot ‘sehna’ pada. Vaise asal mein meri kya majaal main unke saamne kuch bol paaun.
(My first TV shoot was held at Mukesh Mills and this was the same place where the song Jumma-Chumma was filmed. That day I got the feeling of ‘I have arrived’. If this was the situation that day, you can imagine how I must be feeling right now. In the film, I had a legend in front of me and our characters’ nature was such that we had to bear with each other a lot. Else how can I dare to speak anything in front of Big B). ”
Concluding the note by thanking Shoojit…
